The Big Fat Update - Madrid Day 1

We took a flight from Barcelona to Madrid by Iberia which is the Spanish national carrier. I paid only 33 euros for national carrier, so to no surprise, we got the lousy seats at the back of the plane near the engines. Damn noisy!!

After settling down in our hostel, we walked towards Plaza Mayor which was the biggest and most famous square in Madrid. This place reminded me of St. Mark’s Square in Venice as there were many cafes and restaurants surrounding it. We took some time to sit down on the square and soak in the sun. Yes, Spain is forever sunny somehow!! I could walk around in the day with just my t-shirt (of course, you can’t do that in the evening).

We then went to Estadio Santiago Bernabéu which is the home of Real Madrid. We did not go in as the stadium tour was too costly!!

In the evening, we went to check out the Cinéma Capitol which supposedly had an art-deco exterior, but I didn’t know what was so special about it. Anyway, when we reached, there was a major Halloween celebration, presumably by the Spanish actors and actresses, who took to the streets to disrupt the traffic. I thought this was pretty cool; you’ll probably get arrested if you do this in Singapore.
