The Big Fat Update - Madrid Day 3

In the morning, we went to the Reina Sofia Museum which is the home of surrealist paintings. Two particular paintings were the highlight of the museums: “Guernica” by Picasso and “The Great Mastubator” by Dali. I am yet to find out the interpretation of these two paintings but they were really intriguing. Due to copyright issues, I cannot publish any pictures of the two paintings, so just google them if you are interested to find out more.

We spent the next 4 hrs in Park del Retiro. This is a typical park with plenty green patches and shades for you to take your siesta. The highlights of this place are the crystal palace which houses logs (not sure for what reasons) as well as the artificial lake Estanque. This lake was filled with people (families and lovers alike) boat-rowing. We had a go at it as well and I found that it was really not as easy as it seemed to row a boat. You really must be able to coordinate the movement of both of your arms and usually it's the left hand that fails you. Nonetheless it was fun trying something new.

After having enough siesta, we headed for Museo del Prado. The sight that greeted us when we reached there was a long train of people queue-ing to get into the museum. It was especially packed today because it was the last day that the museum will be free of charge to the public. Anyway, this place is huge and it is apparently Spain's answer to Paris' Louvre. We did not finish exploring the museum in the end.
